Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Dog Lovers, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Dog Lovers," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing the Dog Lovers platform at doglovers.co, you agree to these Terms.

1. THE "SAFETY FIRST" BOOKING RULE

To maintain the integrity of DogLovers.co and protect both pet owners and sitters, all bookings must be processed through our secure platform.

Why?

Paying through the app is what activates the DogLovers Guarantee (vet fee reimbursement) and our 24/7 support. Off-platform payments void all protections and guarantees.

The Penalty

Accepting or soliciting cash payments or other off-platform payment methods is a violation of our terms. It may result in the permanent removal of both the owner and the sitter from the community.

The Benefit

We hold the money in secure escrow so the sitter is guaranteed payment, and the owner is guaranteed a refund if the service isn't performed as agreed.

2. CANCELLATION POLICIES

Each sitter chooses one of two cancellation policies. The policy that applies to your booking will be displayed before you confirm your reservation.

Option A: Flexible

  • Full Refund: If the owner cancels before 12:00 PM (Noon) the day before the service starts
  • Partial Refund (50%): If cancelled after the Noon deadline
  • Best For: Dog walking and quick drop-in visits

Option B: Moderate

  • Full Refund: If the owner cancels by 12:00 PM (Noon) exactly 7 days before the service starts
  • Partial Refund (50%): If cancelled within the 7-day window
  • No Refund: If cancelled on or after the start date
  • Best For: Overnight boarding and holiday stays

Sitter Cancellations: If the sitter cancels, you always receive a 100% full refund, and DogLovers often helps you find a replacement sitter.

3. SERVICE FEES & PAYMENT PROCESSING

For Pet Owners

A Service Fee (typically 5–10%) is added to each booking. This covers our 24/7 support, platform maintenance, and the DogLovers Guarantee protection.

For Sitters

We deduct a Platform Commission (typically 15–20%) from your total earnings. This fee provides you with insurance coverage, marketing exposure, and payment processing.

Payment Escrow

When a booking is confirmed, the payment is authorized and held securely. Sitters receive their payment 2 days after the service is successfully completed.

4. EMERGENCY & DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Medical Emergencies

In the event of a pet medical emergency, the sitter must contact the owner immediately and, if needed, seek veterinary care. The owner remains responsible for vet bills, but may be eligible for reimbursement through the DogLovers Guarantee if the service was booked through our platform.

Service Issues

If there is a dispute about service quality or completion, contact our support team within 48 hours of the service end date. We will review the case and may issue a full or partial refund at our discretion.

5. THE PLATFORM

Dog Lovers provides a marketplace and SaaS toolset (the "Platform") connecting pet owners ("Owners") with pet care providers ("Hosts"). Dog Lovers does not provide pet care services; we provide the technology to manage bookings, scheduling, and payments.

6. THE DOG LOVERS GUARANTEE

Bookings paid for through the Platform include access to the Dog Lovers Protection Guarantee.

Coverage

Includes up to $1M in secondary liability and emergency vet reimbursement for eligible incidents.

Exclusions

Does not cover off-platform bookings, pre-existing conditions, or injuries to the Host or the Host's own property/pets.

Requirement

To remain eligible, all communication and payments must stay within the Dog Lovers platform.

7. SAFETY & BACKGROUND CHECKS

Verification

To list services, Hosts must pass a background check via our third-party partner, Checkr.

Authorization

By applying as a Host, you authorize Dog Lovers, LLC and its agents to conduct criminal background and sex offender registry checks using the information provided (including SSN).

Accuracy

Dog Lovers relies on third-party data; we do not guarantee the 100% accuracy of any background check.

8. HOST SUBSCRIPTIONS & FEES

Subscription

Hosts pay a monthly fee to access the Platform's tools (Calendar, Messaging, CRM) and to be listed on the Search Map.

0% Commission

Dog Lovers does not take a percentage of the Host's service earnings. All earnings (minus third-party payment processing fees) belong to the Host.

Non-Refundable

Subscription fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable. You may cancel your subscription at any time to prevent future billing.

9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Dog Lovers, LLC is not liable for any injury, death, or property damage resulting from a stay. Hosts are independent contractors, not employees of Dog Lovers, LLC. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. DISPUTE RESOLUTION & ARBITRATION

By using DogLovers, you agree to resolve disputes through binding individual arbitration rather than court proceedings. Please review our complete Dispute Resolution & Arbitration Agreement for full details, including your right to opt out within 30 days.

11. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and the Federal Arbitration Act. Any court proceedings (for exceptions to arbitration) must be filed in New Castle County, Delaware.
